NEW FOUNDATION WILL WORK
TO BRIDGE POLICY DEBATE AND THE PUBLIC
Health Care America Foundation
to Clarify, Inform and
Discuss
WASHINGTON—Health Care America Foundation will offer a platform for individuals and organizations working to offer solutions to health care policy challenges in America.
The Foundation will clarify and inform the public about health care proposals and facilitate discussions about these proposals allowing Americans to get beyond candidate sound bites.
“As the 2008 presidential campaigns unfold and solutions and policies are offered up for debate, it’s essential Americans have the opportunity to discuss the myriad of questions and challenges of providing health care in America,” said Sarah Berk, president of the Foundation. “Unfortunately, elections and mainstream coverage of elections too frequently dwindle to little more than sound bites. Our objective is to help offer the public a substantive, informed look at health care issues for those who want to learn more.”
The Foundation will collaborate with think tanks, coalitions and other organizations to bring health care proposals and policies to America’s main streets. Serving as a facilitator, Health Care America Foundation will provide a rallying point for ideas, and work to empower individuals so they can be active, informed voices in the election process.
The Foundation grew out of the organization Health Care America, which was established in early 2006 to promote increased access to health care coverage and better care for all Americans. The Foundation anticipates broad support and representation from a variety of groups and coalitions.
